How to Transit at Zurich Airport without an airport or Schengen visa
Do I need an airport transit visa or a Schengen visa?
Zurich Airport allows transit without a transit visa or a Schengen visa to many countries, including India, South Africa, and Bhutan.
Please check your country on official website
A Schengen visa is needed only if you intend to step outside the airport.
How does transit work in Zurich Airport?
A connecting flight passenger goes via a transit security check after alighting. Then most of the airport across different terminals is accessible. Each terminal access has separate entry security checks.

The check-in baggage is not accessible since that requires immigration and hence a visa.
Where do I stay for a long transit time at the airport?
Zurich Airport has many lounges and a hotel.
A longer transit time of a few hours is better spent in The Transit Hotel. The hotel is usually full, so book in advance from their website.
The reservation is free and needs a simple form submission.
The reservations are available for a few hours to an overnight stay.

How do I get baggage to the destination?
Sometimes the checked-in luggage travels only to Zurich airport, despite a connecting flight reservation.
Or boarding pass for the connecting flight is not provided. It is a good idea to buy whole journey tickets from the same airline.
The solution is to meet the Transfer Desk at terminal E. The staff is super helpful and prompt. They can help you get the baggage carry-over to the connecting flight. Also, they can help you get the boarding passes.
